What Is All Around…

It was one of the two hour drives that I normally take from good ole’ San Dimas to Bakersfield. There was nothing particularly special about this drive, so I took some time to pray and ask God what he desired for the youth group, I prayed for AnnaMarie, my family, my life….and I even stopped and got a frosty @ Wendy’s to make the ride more enjoyable. But what was so incredible about this trip was the beauty that surrounded me. Driving through the mountains many times you see the same things, rocks, yellow or green grass, an occasionally a cow or two…but today it was springtime. The mountains seemed as if the were brushed by a giant paintbrush with shades of yellow and orange, and it made everything so much brighter. It made me feel so good, until I saw something that brought a smile upon my face that was impossible to get rid off. Descending from the grapevine, I was encompassed by a sea of purple flowers. Fields and fields, acres and acres of wild purple flowers that had to of grown within the past week…it was so incredible. My breath was taken away by the immense beauty that was all around me. God is so amazing, all of sights that he has created for us to see. And….of course because I’m in bible school….a bible verse comes to mind.
Matthew 6:28-34
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?….but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
It is so easy for us to be worried. Too much homework, too much work, too many errands to run, too many things to do. Many times we often wonder how am I going to pay for that, or how am I going to make time for that, when in reality the answer can be seen in the beauty of creation all around us. As long as God is first in our lives, we shouldn’t worry, because He will take care of us…we just must remember to look at the flowers…and God will take care of the rest.
That was so good baby. You were right…very simple, but so good! God’s greatness is so obvious but sometimes we blind ourselves with our problems and forget to just look at creation and see God. Lately I’ve been thanking Him for causing the sun to rise every morning. He shows His faithfulness and goodness in so many ways. We just have to open our eyes to see it. This was incredible baby. I love you so much!!!
